Meet Dr. John S. Selden

Dr. John Selden, DDS, is a distinguished and accomplished dentist whose journey in the field of dentistry has been marked by excellence, continuous learning, and a commitment to community service. Raised with a passion for dentistry Dr. Selden embarked on his professional journey by graduating from the University Of North Carolina School Of Dentistry in the spring of 1999.

In December 1999, fueled by a vision to create a dental practice that prioritized the patient experience, Dr. Selden founded Inspired Dentistry of Charlotte. His commitment to staying at the forefront of dental advancements led him to complete comprehensive training at esteemed institutions such as the Schuster Center for Professional Development in Scottsdale, AZ, The Dawson Academy in St. Petersburg, FL, and the William C. Strupp Postgraduate Curriculum.

Over the years, Dr. Selden has earned the respect of his peers, consistently being recognized as one of Charlotte’s Top Restorative Dentists for 17 consecutive years. His dedication to the field extends beyond his own practice, as he actively contributes to the dental community by providing consulting and coaching services for fellow dentists striving to build practices of excellence.

As a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, Dr. Selden has demonstrated not only technical proficiency but also a commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity. His leadership extends to his role as the Vice Chair of the North Carolina Dental Foundation, where he actively contributes to the foundation’s mission.

In his personal life, Dr. Selden is happily married to Dr. Kymberly Selden for 24 years, and together they have raised three children. Their shared commitment to philanthropy has left a lasting impact on the community. Dr. Selden, in collaboration with his brother, has established the “Selden Family Merit Scholarship,” aimed at supporting minority dental students in North Carolina, thereby fostering diversity and inclusion in the dental profession.

The charitable endeavors of Inspired Dentistry of Charlotte extend to various community initiatives, including providing financial support and school supplies to local teachers and schools. Dr. Selden’s commitment to charitable work also includes partnerships with organizations such as Semper Fi, The Relatives, Pat’s Place, Missions of Mercy, and the Dental Lifeline Network, where he provides free dental care to those in need.

In his personal life, Dr. Selden has been married for twenty years to Dr. Kymberly Selden who works in the practice. In addition to lifting weights, cycling, swimming and tennis, Dr. Selden enjoys spending time with his wife and three children and coaching his kids in sports. Dr. Selden established Team iDoc as the charitable arm of Inspired Dentistry of Charlotte. He and his team have supported research into heart disease, orphanages, battered women’s shelters and other charities.
